Three Season in One

Day 1: Arrival Day

Afternoon & Evening

Spring is the lovely time of year when you can pursue both skiing and Summer activities: merge two trips into one as you experience more of what Niseko has to offer. Let our Concierge team manage your transportation needs, we are here to support you every step of the way to ensure your journey is seamless and comfortable, allowing you to focus on relaxing and having fun.

Before heading for a drink at our bar, why not pick up your gear at our on-site ski rental shop by Rhythm Japan and place them straight in your own private ski locker, only enabled by your room key. This one stop service means you are ready and prepped to hit the mountains without ever leaving the hotel. With Niseko's famous night skiing, you could even get in a quick run before dinner. (Please note that night skiing operations will be running until 19 March 2023)

Day 2: Spring Ski

Morning & Afternoon

Morning

Breathe in the fresh Spring air and take in the panoramic view from your window before enjoying breakfast at méli mélo -Yuki No Koe-. Offering a wide variety of Western and Asian dishes passionately created from Hokkaido's amazing seasonal produce. With the added promise of some of the best coffee you will find in Niseko courtesy of Baristart, you’ll be sure to start off the day energised.

Take in the bluebird skies, soft snow and warmer temperatures as you hit the slopes in style in your premium gear. Enjoy the convenience of your private ski locker and our continuous shuttle service that will drop you off right in front of the ski slopes. Don’t forget to check out the Spring park and practice your tricks and jumps.

*Please note that the ski resort closes on the last day of golden week (the first week of May).

Afternoon & Evening

After a full, fun-packed morning on the mountain, take a step back and relax in our Spa and Wellness Centre. Consult with our experienced therapists for the best treatment for you, and spend an afternoon unwinding your mind and body.

Setsu has one of the widest selection of restaurants in Niseko to choose from. There’s no need to step outside with such a variety to choose from right inside the hotel. Why not try sushi from the freshest seafood, a steaming bowl of ramen, or the crispiest tempura? Let us know and we can book you in every night of your stay.

Day 3: A Selection of Activities

Morning: Rafting or Golfinging

To have the Spring Niseko experience, we recommend you try golfing or white water rafting, or why not schedule both on different days?

  • Rafting

The rising temperature causes more melting snow and more water in the rivers as the fun flows from the top of the mountain to the base. The faster rivers mean Springtime is the most exciting and exhilarating time for white water rafting. Challenge yourself with a swim in the crisp mountain water at the end of your tour (under one-digit temperature in your wetsuit!), the water’s cold but it’s guaranteed you’ll feel reinvigorated.

  • Golfing

Niseko offers some of the best golfing experiences available in Hokkaido with three world-class golf courses all within a 30-minute drive from Setsu Niseko. With the brisk spring air and breathtaking landscape flanked by the snow capped mountains of Mt Yotei and Annupuri, a round of golf in Niseko is always one to remember. Niseko is a great place to enjoy a variety of courses, including one of Hokkaido’s most difficult courses. Its location between mountains offers something for everyone, from first-timers to advanced golfers.

Afternoon & Evening

Horseback riding is the best way to spend an afternoon, enjoying a mindful moment as you take to the trails to explore Niseko's nature by horseback. The clear spring weather and cool breezes will keep you fresh and feeling good. Not to worry if it’s your first time, we can arrange for an instructor to guide you through the experience.

After a day spent outside, escape to the warmth of the onsen. It's time to relax and experience Niseko like a local with your daily onsen routine. Setsu offers both public and private onsens exclusively for guests, so remember to book in a slot for a private onsen room for you and your family to enjoy.

For dinner enjoy the ultimate ocean-to-table Japanese kaiseki experience at Sushi Kato INORI. With over 50 year’s experience and a stellar reputation for his crab markets and restaurants in Sapporo and Niseko, Sushi Kato offers an authentic and personable culinary experience with a gastronimic journey of the ocean that is second to none. Finish off your day with a glass of wine or a bottle of chilled Niseko craft beer at Park90.

Day 4: Full day for O-Hanami

Morning & Afternoon

For those visiting in early May, you will get a chance to see the cherry blossom trees in Niseko and surrounding areas. Sakura season typically falls between March and April and varies region to region. In Hokkaido we usually expect sakura to bloom early to mid-May. We recommend extending your trip to ensure you don't miss out on one of Japan's most coveted and iconic events. Spring in Niseko is special and many would say the best time to visit with the crisp bluebird skies, picturesque snow-capped mountains and the lush green forests coming back to life after the long winter.

Our top three recommended spots to seek out the finest sakura are:

  •  Ranran Park

Located in Rankoshi Town is a beautiful park full of sakura running alongside the Shiribetsu River, just a short 30-minute drive from Niseko. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the blooming sakuras in front of Mount Yotei.

  • Makkari Shrine

Located at the base of Mount Yotei near Makkari village just a 20-minute drive from Setsu, imagine a long road lined with blossoming pink sakura with Mount Yotei and Makkari shrine as a backdrop.

  • Shibazakura Park (Mishima's garden)

Located near the Kutchan train station, Shibazakura is no ordinary cherry blossom, but blooms on the ground like moss forming a dramatic pink carpet on the vast hill. In fact, the English name for this flower is ‘pink moss’ and it blooms a little later than sakura trees, around the end of May.

If you fancy a relaxing lunch soaking up the natural beauty of sakura, our Setsu team can arrange a takeaway picnic lunch for you with an assortment of delicious treats so you don't need to worry about going hungry during your trip.

Evening

You can never get bored of completing your day in the relaxing comfort of the onsen. Its’ therapeutic benefits are many, so let the hot spring water wash away your worries. With so much local Hokkaido produce in season, dinner promises to be another spectacular adventure for the senses. Have you tried the incredible sushi at Sushi Kato? Or mouthwatering tempura at Tempura Araki? Or if you want to dine in the privacy of your suite, let us help you organise a private chef to cook for you in-suite. Whatever you decide, we can help you make your trip memorable.
