The fun does not stop in Niseko once the snow melts. In fact, it just continues onto the green season where snowboarding and skiing is replaced by biking, golfing, hiking, and more. In fact, just 10 minutes away from Setsu Niseko, the Niseko Hanazono Resort is filled with outdoor activities that you could – quite literally – spend the whole day there.

If you have plans on visiting Hanazono and wondering how to make the most out of your day there, here is a one-day itinerary that you can follow with your family and friends.

09:30 – Zipline

Start the day on a high note with the high speed, exhilarating ride down Mt. Annupuri on the Hanazono Zipflight. Moreover, the ziplines are set side-by-side, allowing you to experience the fun with a partner at the same time. With three segments covering a total distance of 2,591 metres with the last one, MACH 3, with a steep drop and reaching speeds up to 110 km/h, this ride will surely get your blood pumping to enjoy the rest of the day.

Going on all three courses will take around two hours, while only an hour is needed for the MACH 3. However, to start your zipline adventure, you’ll need to go on a 6-minute gondola to reach the start of the zipline. During this time, take in the captivating bird’s eye view of Hanazono and its surroundings – including the famous Mt. Yotei. On the other hand, MACH 2 provides a great shot of Mt. Yotei while you’re on the zipline – so remember to take a look around!

Tip: If you want to go slower, spread your arms and legs to increase air resistance whilst if you want to go fast, keep your legs straight and together.

11:00 – Cafe Hanazono 308 and Kagaminuma

After a thrilling (zip)flight down the mountain, take a breather at Cafe Hanazono 308 by SPROUT. Refresh yourself with a fruit juice or iced coffee, and a savoury sandwich or sweet treat. Located inside the Hanazono 308 Activity Centre, there are tables and seats inside – allowing you to rest your legs for a minute before going on to the next activity.

However, on a particularly good and clear day, what we like to do is to take the food out, ride the gondola up, and do a picnic up on the mountain while admiring a scenic Niseko view. For a different type of view, head on over to Kagaminuma, a marsh known for its mirror-like reflections, which is only a 20-minute one-way walk from the gondola station. From there, you can take another 20-minute walk back to take the gondola down, or do a 45-minute nature hike all the way down to Hanazono Golf. (You will need to walk back to the Hanazono 308 Activity Centre to catch a bus or return to your car if you drove, which will add another 20-minute walk back but why not enjoy it? The scenery is pretty!)

14:00 – Tree Trekking

For those who still have energy to spare, how about an adventure amidst the trees?

Hanazono is home to the biggest Tree Trekking course in Hokkaido, guaranteeing heaps of fun and thrill that both kids and adults can enjoy – making it the perfect family summer activity. There are 7 rope courses suitable for both beginner and intermediate levels. For the brave, challenge the courses in increasing difficulty and end it with a thrilling bungee jump at the end of the course.

For those who want to take a more leisurely walk amongst the trees, we recommend going on Hanazono’s Tree Walk which will give you an outstanding viewpoint of Mt. Yotei through the lush forest.

Tip: If you’re afraid of heights, take a deep breath and don’t look down — keep your head up and take it one step at a time. Remember, you are safe. Also, be sure to wear comfortable pants with zipper pockets if you plan to bring your phone.

19:00 – Mountain Lights

As the night approaches, we think that the only way to end a day of adventure in Hanazono Niseko is to take a slow, scenic walk at the Mountain Lights exhibition. Be captivated by Bruce Munro’s 1.3 km light art installation that winds down the foothills of Mt. Annupuri. Enjoy the play of music, light, and nature as you go down the illuminated walking path.

On selected days, get to watch a special Mountain Light and Fire Goddess Performance along with a spectacular fireworks display at the end of the lights exhibition.

Blessed with lush forests and natural scenery, outdoor activities are the best way to enjoy Niseko’s green season. Experience Niseko in summer with one of our summer stay plans and let our concierge team help you curate the perfect summer day in Hanazono for you and your family.
